Wix versus a managed kitchen website: the editor is not the hard part, the hours are

Wix is a genuinely good hosted website builder, and the question is not whether it can produce a decent kitchen site. It can. The question is whether the person who would build and maintain it has the time, week after week, while also running service. If the answer is yes, Wix is a sensible and inexpensive choice. If the answer is that it will be built once and then quietly go stale, a managed plan buys the outcome instead of the tool.

What Wix is

Wix is a hosted website builder: hosting, editor, templates and an app market in one subscription, with restaurant-oriented templates and add-ons available. You drag, drop and publish, and nothing technical is yours to run. For a single-brand kitchen with an owner who likes fiddling with layouts, that is a legitimate answer, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

The second build is the one nobody does

Everybody has an appetite for building a website once. The build that decides whether it works is the continuous one: the new brand page in March, the delivery link that changed in April, the summer catering packages, the service area that expanded when you added a driver. In a kitchen, that work competes with service, and service wins every time. Five revisions a month with a stated turnaround exist because the second build is the one that actually needs solving.

Multi-brand structure is where builders get awkward

Running several virtual brands out of one facility means each concept needs a page that can be found on its own name, with its own menu, photography and delivery links, while still sharing a domain and an operator behind it. That is a structural decision. In a template-driven builder it typically becomes either one crowded page or several disconnected ones, and search engines end up unsure what your business is. We build the structure first and fill it second, which is the opposite order to how a template works.

What you are actually comparing

A builder subscription buys software. A managed plan buys the pages being built, the copy being written, the markup being generated, articles being published weekly, changes being made inside a turnaround window, hosting, a domain in your name, and a speed guarantee with a stated remedy. Put your own hourly value on the evenings and the comparison stops being about the monthly figure.

When Wix is the better choice

  • You want to spend the smallest possible amount and are happy to do the work.
  • One brand, a short page count, and a menu that rarely changes.
  • You enjoy designing and want to move things around whenever the mood takes you.
  • The kitchen is pre-launch and the site is a placeholder while the concept is tested.

When a managed kitchen site wins

  • The site has gone stale before and you do not want that to happen again.
  • Several brands or units need their own findable pages.
  • Speed matters because most of your traffic is a hungry person on a phone.
  • You would rather send a message than open an editor.

Switching from Wix without breaking links

Send us the current site at onboarding. We take the content worth keeping, rebuild it into a structure designed for how your kitchen operates, map the old URLs and redirect anything that moves so delivery platform links and social bios keep working. If you registered your domain through the builder, you either transfer it or point it at the new site; either way it stays yours and nothing changes for customers who already know your address.

Order noteNo. 201

“Every brand we run finally has its own page instead of getting buried on one shared profile. Customers land on the concept they actually searched for, and when a platform link changes I send one message and it is live the same week.”

Order noteNo. 202

“The available-stations page does the selling for us now. A tenant sees what is open, requests a tour, and it lands on my calendar before I have even read the message.”

Questions about Wix and a managed site

Is Wix bad for SEO?

No, that reputation is out of date, and we are not going to base an argument on it. The thing that holds most builder-based kitchen sites back is not the platform, it is that nobody has time to build the pages, write the content or keep the structure coherent. That is what a managed plan changes.

Can I keep editing the site myself after you build it?

You do not get a website login, and that is deliberate. It is what keeps the site fast, unbroken and consistent. You send the change instead, and it is done inside your turnaround window with five revisions included every month.

What happens to my Wix apps and integrations?

Tell us what you use at onboarding. Booking calendars, reservation widgets and delivery ordering links are normal parts of a build. Anything that is genuinely Wix-only gets replaced with an equivalent we can support, or kept if it works on its own domain.

Is this more expensive than Wix?

The subscription is, yes. The comparison that matters includes the hours you currently spend, the content that does not get written and the changes that do not get made. Our pricing page has the full figures with nothing hidden.

Can I move my domain from Wix to you?

Yes, or keep it registered where it is and point it at the new site. Your plan also includes one domain free, registered in your name, if you would rather start clean.

What if I want to go back to Wix later?

Cancel with the notice in the terms, tell us where to send the domain, and we transfer it at no charge. We export your content and articles within 14 days so you are not starting from nothing.

Do you rebuild the whole site or move it across as is?

We rebuild. Copying a template layout into custom code would keep every structural compromise that template forced on you, which is usually the thing holding the site back in the first place.

How quickly could we be live?

Seven days on The Line, ten on The Pass and fifteen on Head Chef, counted from your onboarding call rather than from purchase.
