Why there is a build fee

The monthly plan pays for running the site: hosting, the domain, revisions and whatever engine your plan carries. The build fee pays for the work that happens once, before any of that starts.

How paying works

Four steps, and the last one is that nothing else happens.

  1. Press the button for your plan

    It opens a secure Stripe checkout for the one-time build fee. The amount is the same on every plan.

  2. Pay by card on Stripe

    Card details go to Stripe, not to us. We never see or store the card number.

  3. A receipt lands in your inbox

    Stripe emails the receipt straight away, and a confirmation page shows what was paid.

  4. Nothing repeats

    The build fee is charged once. Nothing is saved to charge again, and your monthly plan carries on exactly as it was.

Questions about the build fee

Is this a subscription?

No. The build fee is a single $647 payment for designing and building the site. Nothing recurs from this page. Your monthly plan is a separate subscription and is billed on its own.

Do I need to pay this?

Only if we have told you a build fee is due. Plans started on or before Thursday, December 31, 2026 have the build fee waived in full, so if yours is one of those there is nothing to pay here. If you are not sure, email hello@kitchenwebstudio.com before paying.

Why is the amount the same on every plan?

Because the build is the same on every plan. The Line, The Pass and Head Chef differ in what runs on top of the site each month, not in how the site is designed and built, so the build fee is $647 whichever you are on.

Is paying here safe?

Yes. The payment is taken on Stripe's own secure checkout page. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never reach our servers.

Can the build fee be refunded?

All sales are final, and that includes the one-time build fee. The one exception is a duplicate or incorrect charge reported within 30 days, which is corrected to the original payment method within 10 working days. The refund policy sets this out in full.
